Helambu – Shivapuri trekking With a diverse range of brilliant green valleys, misty rhododendron forests and distant horizons of snowy peaks, Helambu is the ideal short trek. There are simple tea houses along this route, yet the area remains relatively unspoilt by tourism. You will experience the Yolmo culture of high mountain villages, marvel at vistas of lonely high mountains and watch enthralled as the farmers toil in the fields using hand-made tools and teams of water-buffalo.

Day01

Drive to Melamche Pul Bazar and overnight at lodge.

It is a 4-5 hour drive from Kathmandu to Melamchi Bazar with private trans port.

Day02

Melamchi to Kakani

Continue ascending towards the Palcheghyang monastery and to Palthang Mani. Further trekking for 2/3 hours Northwards brings you to a small Sherpa village of Sermathang ( 2500 m). Camp in the village itself.

Day03

Kakani To Tarkeghyang

Ascend from here in the morning towards a Chorten at 4300 meters. Splendid view of the himalayas from here. In the afternoon, continue descending Westwards to Tarkeghyang- a thick Sherpa settlement which looks like a Swiss mountain village. Tarkeghyang is also famous for its big monastery. Camp for the night.

Day04

Tarkeghyang/ Rest day

Tarkeghyang/ Rest day for local explorations

Day05

Tarkeghyang to MelamchiGhyang

Descend from here towards the bridge at 1900 meters and continue ascending steeply to the village of Melamchi through the forests of Orchids and rhododendrons. Camp at Melamchi ( 2600 meters).

Day06

Melamchighyang to Tharepati

Proceed westwards, descending steeply through the dense forests. Ascend to the ridge of Tharepati ( 3500 meters). Camp for the night.

Day07

Tharepati to Kutumsang

Continue descending from Phengyu Danda covering about 300 ft. downhill to the village of Khutumsang. Camp in the village itself.

Day08

Kutumsang to Chisapani

Keep close to the ridge until you arrive at Gulbhanjyang Pass( 2150 m.) . The path follow the ridge Southwards from here descending through the village of Chipling ( 2500 m) to Chisopani Chaur. Camping in Chisopani ( 2200 m).

Day09

Chisapani to Shivapuri

Trek Westwards from here, passing through Dungra Goan. Ascend through the jungles to reach the top of Shivapuri. Shivapuri offers one of the most dramatic views of the Jugal himal and the Gaurishanker range including Mt.Everest. Camp in Shivapuri (2715 m).

Day10

Shivapuri to Kathmandu

Early sunrise followed by early breakfast. Descend downhill to Bagdwar and Ngatse monastery. A visit to the Gompa is well rewarding. Continue your journey back to Kathmandu.

Day11

Final Departure.

All too soon it's time to bid Nepal farewell and one realizes that we can never be intimate, only acquainted with this amazing adventure kingdom
