While searching for new and attractive destination for the tourists, recently the Tamang Heritage trail Langtang, Rasuwa has been found one of the best trekking routs near about 120km north to Kathmandu with an unparalleled combination of nature beauty and cultural riches. It is untouched by roads; the area offers a life unfolding experience. The main inhabited here are Tamang and Sherpa, whose origin and culture remains hundreds of years back. The people, craftsmanship, dress, traditionally built stone houses and the beautifully craved wooden porches reflect the solitude and the serenity of the Himalayan scenery make this are a ideal model trekking destination in Nepal. Historical places like Rasuwagadi, religious attractions like Tatopani, Parbati Kunda etc are the additional features of this new route. Day01

Kathmandu arrival (1300m)

Welcome to Kathmandu, the capital. You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel, here you will be formally introduced to your Guide and the activities to be enjoyed over the next few days. We will also ask for your passport photographs and any other details required for your trek permits, at this stage.

Day02

Kathmandu sightseeing.

After breakfast, you start an interesting tour around Kathmandu. We will arrange a guide of your chosen language to give you a tour and introduction to our rich culture amongst our ancient and fascinating history and religion. In our sightseeing tour you go to Monkey temple Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath and Kathmandu Durbar square. Durbar Square: -This complex of palaces, courtyards and temples, built between the 12th and 18th centuries, used to be the seat of the ancient Malla kings of Kathmandu. There is an intriguing 17th century stone inscription set into the wall of the palace with writings in 15 languages. The Durbar square, protected as an UNESCO world Heritage site, is the social, religious and urban focal point of the city. There are also museums inside the palace building. There is an entrance fee of Rs.250 for foreign visitors. Your ticket to the Square entitles you to visit all the museums. Swayambhunath, situated on a hillock 6.5 kilometres west of Kathmandu, this 2000 years old Stupa is the world’s most glorious Buddhist shrine and is surrounded by several small pagodas. The main temple is capped by a pinnacle of copper gilt and is painted on the four sides with all seeing eyes of Lord Buddha. Pashupatinath, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is the holiest and most famous Nepalese temple. Situated 5 kilometres northeast of Kathmandu on the bank of the sacred Bagmati River, it is an impressive pagoda style structure with gilt roof and richly carved silver doors. It has bathing and cremation ghats, which are of absorbing interest to the tourist, particularly in the mornings and on festival days.

Day03

Kathmandu to Syuabrubesi (1467m)

Travelling through Trishuli (Nuwakot) today the journey length will depend on the season and the number of landslides caused by heavy rains. On a good day it will take you 6 hours. The views on the way are very pretty.

Day04

Syabrubesi to Gatlang (2238m)

You begin with a climb up behind the town to the Tamang settlement of Goljung, this is the hardest section, from the top you then descend to Gatlang overall taking about 6 hours. The views today are lovely, the valley bellow and mountains in the distance, you might catch a glimpse of Langtang Himal. Gatlang is a fascinating village it is definitely worth taking a stroll through some of the narrow alleys, the architecture is very different to elsewhere and charming.

Day05

Gatlang to Tatopani (2607m)

Today’s walk is about 3 hours, you begin by dropping through the village of Gatlang to the valley floor, you will cross the river and pass through some lovely Buddhist prayer walls before crossing the river to begin your descent up the other side to Tatopani. The meaning of which is “Hot water” you will find some natural springs here, well maintained and great for a dip after your days walk.

Day06

Tatopani to Thuman (2338m)

Trekking via Nagthali (3165m) today to Thuman will take around 5 hours. The panoramic views of Langtang, Kerung, and Ganesh Himal are fantastic, a great spot to relax and enjoy the scenery. From here you descend to Thuman another pretty village with more stunning views.

Day07

Thuman to Timure (1762m.)

takes about five hours. While trekking from Thuman to Timure you can visit nearby historical Rasuwagadi. This day's trekking grants you an opportunity to observe Tibeto Burman Tamang culture on the two villages on the way. Timure is on the old trade route to Tibet. A fort here is a historical reminder of the Nepal Tibetan relations that has existed for many centuries. A suspension bridge here links Nepal and Tibet. Stay overnight at camp in Timure.

Day08

Timure to Briddham (2229m)

You can see Briddham from Thmuan, directly across the valley at virtually the same altitude, you will be walking for approximately 6 hours today. Of course you have to drop to the valley floor in order to ascend the other side, you will be walking through lovely pine forests for the first part before ascending through local terraced landscape and small villages en route to Briddham. There are around 43 houses here built of stone and inhabited by the Tamang people.

Day09

Briddham to Lama hotel (2470m)

Another 6 hour day today as you head to Lama Hotel, you will be coming round/bypassing Syabru Besi as you make your way into the Langtang Valley. The walk begins by leading you through lovely local farm land and into pretty forests. In the distance you will see the route you have followed, a great circuit.

Day10

Lama Hotel to Langtang (3430m)

Your gentle climb to begin with soon steepens high above the river to Ghora Tabela. (2970m). You will soon find yourself in open country with scattered Tamang settlements. You will have climbed nearly 100m today relatively steadily. The village here is home to some yak herds and cheese factories, worth exploring if you have the energy.

Day11

Langtang to Kyanjing Gompa (3870m)

You will climb to the ridge this morning marked with a big chorten and some Mani walls, from here you will have views of Kyanjing Gompa and the icefall from Langtang Lirung surrounded by snowy mountains. You will be walking for around 3 hours today so time to explore the area this afternoon.

Day12

Kyanjing Gompa to Lama Hotel (2470m)

You will return the way you came today following the Langtang Khola river to Langtang Village and on to Ghra Tabela and down to Lama Hotel.

Day13

Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi (1467m)

The beginning of your journey today is very pretty and offers magnificent views. You will begin descending gently before it steepens to Syabrubesi, taking about 5 hours in total.

Day14

Syabrubesi to Kathmandu

A pleasant drive back after what has hopefully been a great trek, the route is as it was on the way in but will go quickly as you regale all the fun moments and experiences you have had over the last 10 days.

Day15

Day free in Kathmandu

Enjoy a day exploring some of the quieter streets of Kathmandu, stocking up on souvenirs and presents for those back home. This evening you have a farewell dinner, you will be picked up in good time.

Day16

Final Departure.

You will be met at your hotel and taken to the airport in good time to meet your flight home.
